      • What ?

What is Botanica ? For the public authority which accused us of criminal activities, we are not a terrorist organisation. For the local newspaper which thought we were lunatics with leaves growing under our armpits, we are not a religious sect. Botanica is an association, that is to say a formal organisation of people who share a common purpose, which ardently follows its sole goal : promote nature. The association, founded by green-handed students of Paris' Institute of Political Sciences (Sciences-Po if you're trendy) has the incredible task of creating a closer synergy between us (humans) and them (plants & flowers).

        Why ?

Why Botanica ? Because Botanica has the firm conviction that the value-crisis of Western civilisation is due to the growing discrepancy between the natural and the cultural realms. Because Botanica believes that if we carry on at this pace doomsday will not be a mere ecliptic-marketing tag. Our end is near, ladies and gentlemen, if we continue ostrasizing nature. As long as we antagonize our green valleys, our blue skies and our bright-yellow dandelions in a perverted master/slave dialectic, we will continue to cough, gasp and quease. Instead of perceiving the destruction of nature as the price to pay for Man's survival, Botanica believes that Man's extinction will be the price to pay for nature's obliteration. Botanica is not a reminescence of 1960's phantasmagoria. Our aim is not to beckon a "halt to growth" like the Club of Rome. We are not hard-core-thick-headed-domineering-hyper-active extremists like Greenpeace. Botanica will act as a petitioner, a vector and most of all, as an organisation of people with a common purpose, or in other terms, an association.

        How ?

How will Botanica achieve its ambitious goal ? By a persuasive use of convincing arguments, articles, petitions, sit-ins and posters. Botanica will unite all of those who are alive and kicking, striving and yearning, believing and fighting for nature's cause. By organizing happenings, picnics, lectures, conferences, excursions, trips and debates, Botanica intends to fulfil its fastidious enterprise. If you too, feel concerned by planet Earth's future, then join us ! We need all the support we can get, so don't hesitate, before it's to late, to come and see us in Paris or send us an e-mail. If you're not the extraverted type, feel free to browse and wander 'round our site. We won't harass you with pathetic publicity and atrocious merchandising.   (follow the arrow if you're lost)
